21 March is a global awareness day which has been officially observed by the United Nations since 2012. The motto of this year’s event is: Leave no one behind!
EDSA has asked their members to show people with Down syndrome taking part in activities together with others. Starting on 1 March, we show 21 examples from across Europe to make it clear that no one should be left behind!
This is Marte Wexelsen Goksøyr she is 36 years old and she is living in her beautiful home by herself in Oslo. She leads an independent life were she has written 2 books called „I want to live“ and „It doesn‘t matter who we are“. She is also an actress and she has appeared in several movies and theatre plays. In 2018 she wrote a script called „ What the F.ck is the problem“ where she played against one of Norways most prominent actors Sven Nordin. The play got fantastic reviews. Marte has also been on different debates on national TV on the topic of being discriminated in the job marked when having Down syndrome and she is also very concerned about the NIPT and fetus selection where she often give her comments in the media. She has also been on the board of the Norwegian Down syndrom association for many years. She is a great role model in Norway.
Dette er Marte Wexelsen Goksøyr hun er en 36 år gammel kvinne som bor i sin vakre leilighet alene i Oslo. Hun lever et selvstendig liv hvor hun blant annet har skrevet 2 bøker med titlene «Jeg vil leve“ og „Samme hvem vi er“. Hun er også skuespillerinne hvor hun har spilt i flere filmer og teaterstykker. I 2018 skrev hun et manusskript som fikk tittelen «Hva faen er problemet» der spilte hun mot en av Norges mest fremtredende skuespillere Sven Nordin. Teateroppsettet fikk fantastiske anmeldelser. Marte har også vært med i ulike debatter på nasjonalt tv hvor hun har debattert opplevelsen av diskriminering i utdanning og arbeidslivet grunnet Downs syndrom, og hun er også veldig opptatt av NIPT og fosterseleksjonen som hun opplever som sortering. Hun har også vært i styret for Norsk Nettverk for Down Syndrom i mange år. Hun er en flott rollemodell i Norge
