21 March is a global awareness day which has been officially observed by the United Nations since 2012. The motto of this year’s event is: Leave no one behind!
EDSA has asked their members to show people with Down syndrome taking part in activities together with others. Starting on 1 March, we show 21 examples from across Europe to make it clear that no one should be left behind!
Children and youngsters with Down syndrome from our Czech association often practise different sports – for instance swimming, skiing, bowling, etc. As they do not want to be left behind, they participate also in sport races and Special Olympics. On the picture we can see some of our youngsters (from left to right – Teresa, Michaela, Michael and Sandra) with the Czech flag during the „3rd Slovak Swimming Championship for Youngsters with Down syndrome“, which took place in Trenčín (Slovakia) on October 13th 2018.
Děti a mládež s DS z našeho spolku DownSyndrom CZ často sportují v různých disciplínách – například plavou, lyžují, hrají bowling nebo jinak cvičí.
