This year, Norway celebrates that CRPD has become part of the Human Rights Act, strengthening the right to equal participation. Yet meaningful inclusion takes more than legislation. Local chapters of Downs Syndrome Norway create gatherings, activities and learning opportunities across the country, year‑round. But fighting loneliness also depends on sports clubs, cultural arenas and neighbourhoods to open their doors wider.
To make real participation possible, support persons and BPA must become more accessible for children, youth and adults with Down syndrome. Only then can celebrations, daily life and shared spaces truly include everyone, with room to be seen, contribute and belong.
