Celebrating Diversity with a Joyful Gift from Moldova: The Jolly Socks

In honour of International Children’s Day, we’re delighted to share a heart-warming gift from Moldova that celebrates diversity, kindness, and imagination.

📖 The Jolly Socks (Ciorăpeii Zglobii) is a delightful children’s book of poetry created by our friends at Prietena Mea, an organisation dedicated to raising awareness and promoting acceptance of disabilities in Moldova.

Beatrice is at the heart of the story, a joyful 7-year-old girl who chose her parents from the magical Garden of Babies, where rainbows and sunshine slide across fluffy clouds. Through her eyes, we follow a week full of discoveries—each day an opportunity to see the world with curiosity, love, and laughter.

The playful theme of mismatched socks becomes a gentle but powerful symbol of diversity. It reminds us that being different is something to celebrate, not hide, and that every child, regardless of ability, deserves to be seen, valued, and embraced for who they are.

As the team at Prietena Mea writes:

“We envision a world where every person with special needs is accepted with empathy and treated with respect, where diversity is celebrated, and inclusion is part of everyday life.”

This beautifully illustrated poem is more than just a story—it’s a message of hope and joy, shared in the universal language of childhood.

The eBook comes with fun colouring pages, making it perfect for creative play at home or in the classroom.
