WDSD 2024 “Health Equity for All” – Georgia
Healthcare for individuals with Down syndrome in Georgia is subpar. No state programs exist to include individuals with Down syndrome. The state does not fund the costly research conducted by the procedure for monitoring the health of individuals with Down syndrome. Research is costly, preventing most families in Georgia from pursuing it, often leading to fatal results. The state does not advocate for health equality or take any actions to put it into practice.
