I am leaving on an airplane …
The situation at airports and on aeroplanes can be very challenging for people with Down Syndrome, Autism or other disabilities.
Fundación ASNIMO (EDSA member on Mallorca) was asked by AENA (Aeropuertos Españoles y Navegación Aérea) to consider how to help them cope better with the stress of travelling.
Fundación ASNIMO has developed a special material that prepares and supports them. This „Proyecto TEA“ offers very detailed visual aids for people who are travelling by aeroplane.
In addition to illustrations, pictograms and photos, this brochure contains a detailed description of how parents and carers can prepare their children or clients for a journey so that they feel less anxious or stressed in the situation.
This material is very useful and should be shared with other EDSA members. Perhaps it could serve as inspiration for others? Have a look here: https://proyectoaena.fundacionasnimo.org/
(Aena is the acronym for Aeropuertos Españoles y Navegación Aérea. It is the most important airport manager in Spain and one of the global leaders in terms of passenger traffic.)
